My Story
I am a lifelong resident of the Sudbury region, most of my life I have lived in Valley East. I attended St Anne elementary school, this was the beginning of my lifelong educational journey as well as the discovery of what would become my passion filled purpose. I was in third grade, 8 Years old, when I decided that I wanted to be a Dentist. The reasons included my desire and
drive to excel academically, the fact that I also absolutely loved to work with tools and my hands, and that I was particularly fascinated with how everything worked. I credit my parents for instilling the confidence and work ethic to allow and motivate me to achieve my goals throughout my life. My father Emery taught me so many practical skills but he also encouraged my academic pathway. He purposely brought me underground at one of INCO’s mines when I was 9 or 10 years old, and this experience, although super cool also helped ensure that I stayed the course with my pursuit of a career in Dentistry. I came to realize this underground experience was a plan to share the good and the bad of the mining life and this motivated me to continue with an academic pathway. My mother Sally was teacher and she valued education more than most, she constantly provided the encouragement and confidence required to relentlessly pursue my dream of becoming a Dentist.
I attended St Charles College for high school and at the time this was an “all boys” school. This experience further enhanced my desire to excel and pursue a professional career.. We were not only encouraged but expected to pursue an academic post secondary direction. My post secondary experiences started in the sciences at Laurentian University and after three years I
gained acceptance to the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Toronto. It was the beginning of a truly awesome lifelong learning journey that has inspired me to learn and embrace the cutting edge of what modern Dentistry has to offer. I have learned so much along the way and I have always been committed to bringing this knowledge and skills and equipment into my clinical practice. The underlying goal and motivation for me is universally wanting be the very best that I can be so that my patients benefit. I most recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Applied Physics in the form of Laser Dentistry from the Unicatt Gemelli Catholic University in Rome Italy. Teaching and sharing my experience and knowledge with other dental colleagues has provided me with an added avenue to help improve the lives of more patients indirectly through other practitioners.
I truly believe that the real measure of one’s success is having a positive effect on others. Dentistry provides me with this opportunity every day. I am very fortunate to have had the ability and opportunity to pursue and live my passion filled purpose.
